How to update your registered office address

Switch from a PO Box address to a virtual business address by March to avoid having your company struck off the Companies House register.

Select from any location across the UK. You’ll be allocated an address in the city of your choice.

2. Select a mail plan

Choose a mail plan that matches your expected usage. If you’re not sure, select our pay-as-you-go option.

3. Complete identity verification

Under Money Laundering Regulations (MLR), we’re required to confirm your identity. Just upload the documents we need and we’ll handle the rest.

4. Change your registered office address

After we’ve assigned your business address, update the details stored on Companies House using GOV’s online tool or by completing the relevant form.

What are the Companies House reforms?

From 4 March 2024, you won’t be able to use a PO Box as your registered office address. If you don’t update your registered office address with a suitable alternative, your business may be struck off the register. Companies House have stated that registered office addresses must be appropriate, meaning:

Any documents sent to the registered office should be expected to come to the attention of a person acting on behalf of the company.
Any documents sent to that address can be recorded by an acknowledgement of delivery.
You can still use a third-party agent’s address if they meet the conditions for an appropriate address.
